Kindness never goes out of style

A positive spin on "No"

9/26/2022

It's just difficult sometimes to say "NO!"  We work on our boundaries, but we always have a few people in our lives that make it difficult to tell them no.

Maybe we need to look at this in a different perspective?
Change the word from "no" to "I'll pass" or maybe "I will try one bite".

It doesn't offend the person and it won't kill your good eating behavior.  No is a harsh word at times.  Easing the blow will keep everyone a little happier!

Kindness never goes out of style....

Which Path to take?

6/23/2022

We never know which path to take.  If we take the one to the left, will it lead us to the success we are wanting?  If we take the one to the right, will it lead us to a longer path to get to the same success?

Either way, we have to keep moving forward and learning as we go.

Ted and I have both been down both of those paths.  Each of them have given us a lesson that we use on the next path.

We look at life as a wonderful journey that we are taking together.  It has its great moments as well as those trying moments, but how boring life would be without them.

Be kind to yourself and to others
Look for the positive in each journey
Stay focused on what is important to you or the partnership
Keep moving forward

Physical Fitness & Well-Being

What does it all mean?

Sometimes we get confused on what we actually need vs what we want.  How does that affect your over all well-being, your wellness and your health?

Definition:
Physical Fitness: Ability to preform daily activities
Well-Being/Wellness: Quality of life

When you understand what is important to you, your goals become clearer. Sometimes, we have to have a little help or even a medical "scare" (ie: heartattack) to help us get to the point of making a decision we have value.

I will be working on a series of videos that will help you understand and work towards the decision making process.  Keep an eye out for more information!

Resolutions....REally?

Talk about setting yourself for failure!  So many of us have set some really outlandish new year's resolutions in hope that we will be successful.  In reality, we fail...really bad!

So why do we keep doing this?

If we could only make smaller goals that are achievable and measurable....this is where Wellness Coaching comes in.

A Wellness Coach can guide you on your journey to better fitness, health and overall happiness.  Isn't that what we truly want? A better quality of life!!

We offer that at the Midwest Dance & Fitness Center, Grain Valley...in person or virtual. If you are ready to stop the chaos and are ready to focus on YOU, we will be there when you are ready!

Testimony from Tacy Hill

I measured Tacy today. She's been with the studio since March 2021. When she started, it was hit/miss with workouts due to pain issues. Then summer hit and they have family activities, so she missed quite a bit over the summer months.
I was soooo excited when I was measuring her today. You could tell she was going to have a great measuring day!
Her motivation, energy and "getter' done" attitude. She made the decision to take back her life....and then magic happened!
This is her testimonial:
Tacy Hill:
My life Pre-Pris:
Pain: 6-7 years, in neck, shoulders, low back, hips and feet
Activity level: stopped doing anything - I was working from home, sitting at my desk 8-10 hours a day for 7-8 years (at home) and only going 10-20 steps to the kitchen or bathroom or back to bed. In the office at a desk prior to working from home.
Surgery: shoulder, carpal tunnel and on calendar for multi-level fusion in cervical spine (I canceled neck surgery as I am no longer in pain)
Treatments for pain: physical therapy, injections, pain pills, muscle relaxers, ice, heat — these things were nearly daily for a few of those years as the pain was in multiple body locations.
Weight, strength and flexibility: I weighed more than ever before, it wasn’t my food intake because I have always eaten a good diet. I could not run, go up and down stairs or carry groceries without having to sit down for a bit prior to putting them away. ZERO flexibility, I was so afraid of falling because it would cause me more pain that I didn’t dare do anything extra.
My life after Pris:
no unmanageable pain (occasional ibuprofen)
no neck surgery
no pain pills
no muscle relaxers
no prilosec (heartburn med)
Lost about 30 pounds
Lost a lot of inches
I have my strength & flexibility back
I have the endurance to run up the stairs with the groceries and run back down for another load — no rest in between
Working in the yard, garden, mowing
I really just do anything I want now, FREEDOM! I feel better all over and all I had to do was move my body!
She is down over 30lbs and 19% body fat!
The magic is not in a pill, a lotion or a potion. The magic is in you. We can help you find your magic!

A little about me...

12/6/2021

I use to be considered obese.  My BMI was 36. My waistline was 42".
There are not too many people who know me from these days.  I was struggling in bad relationships.  I had extremely low self esteem/confidence.
And then I hit the bottom of the barrel.  It was not a soft landing either!  My ex had a prostitute in one hand and drugs in the other.  It was time for a change. It was time for me!

Fast forward from 9/2002 to 12/2021: I have lost well over 80lbs and 56" off my body.  I am a National Champion Dancer in the ACDA.  I own a studio and a 3 day dance competition with my husband, Ted.

Between fitness and dance, I have myself.  It has empowered me to help others in similar situations.  Dancing and Fitness have saved my life!  I feel very blessed.
